REVIEW: MAC The Matte Lip Lipsticks – Fashion Revival, Pander Me, Styled in Sepia & Living Legend

Oh hey, I’m back with another lipstick haul from… *drums roll* yah, yah, you know it. From MAC website.

And I swear MAC knows that I’m lusting over their lipsticks because they’ve been releasing a lot of gorgeous ones lately and yes, I’m talking about those from the Rocky Horror collection which literally ran out within MINUTES. Needless to say, I failed to lay my hands on them (ugh, I’d have gotten everything except for Sin, which I already have, goddammit) because of timezone difference and.. I didn’t know it was so highly anticipated hence I didn’t stalk the site. Now, probably to make up for my loss *boohoo*, they have decided to release a lipstick collection entirely in Matte finish.

ASDFGHJKLKKJHGSQER please gimme a moment while I hyperventilate.

I freakin’ love Matte lipsticks in case you don’t already know. Satin ranks second, followed by Amplified – if you’re talking about just MAC. But yes, regardless of the brand, I’d always pick the Matte one from the lot. Because it stays much longer, gives nicer and fuller lips and I feel that my face doesn’t need additional shine for now, no thanks to my oily complexion.

What’s more, there are quite a number of dark shades in this collection! WHUT WHUTTT.

Singaporeans! Find out how to buy from maccosmetics.com here!

For this collection, everything is limited edition with the exception of Heroine. “Limited Edition” is such a dangerous marketing phrase for shopaholics like myself. Use it on my favourite cosmetic brands and you’ll have my moolahs.

At this point I realise that I’ve gone too crazy on the caps lock, bold and italic buttons. I apologise if I sound like an emotionally unstable adolescent girl.

The Matte Lip, as its name implies, is a collection of lip products and blush to go with the look. Lipstick shades for this collection are Styled in Sepia, Pander Me, Nouvelle Vogue, Damn Glamorous, La Vie En Rouge, Fashion Revival, Living Legend and Heroine. Nonconformists or those who feel that lipsticks wear off too easily can opt for lip pencils (Pro Longwear Lip Pencils in Etcetera, Staunchly Stylish, Trust in Red, Fashion Boost, Absolutely It and Bespoken For). Blush (Pro Longwear Blush in I’m a Lover, Fleeting Romance and Make You Mine) is limited edition too.

Official swatch. For the record, the other shades apart from those reviewed here are Nouvelle Vouge (soft blue pink), Damn Glamorous (bright pink red), Heroine (bright purple) and La Vie En Rouge (bright orange coral).

For this entry, I will just be reviewing my purchases which are mainly from the lipstick section! Four lippies in total! Oh boy oh boy.. 😀

Having a déjà vu feeling? If this reminds you of Rebel, high five! This is slightly more saturated though and I will do a comparison with other similar shades (from MAC) in awhile. It’s a really gorgeous shade of purple nonetheless.

Hair got into my mouth -_-

One word: PERFECT (and how often do I compliment nude shades?) Basically this has become my new HOLY GRAIL MLBB lipstick because I’ve been wearing it out since taking this photo (which usually is when I first try new lipsticks, to be more objective in my critic). I think it exudes a kind of sweet femininity and makes me look good! I feel that it’d look gorgeous on fair skin 😉 A highly recommended buy!

I’m not sure about other girls but I’m a clean freak. That did not stop me from getting Styled in Sepia though! This shade, despite its intriguing yet unpleasant description (“dirty cement beige”), is probably the only one “dirty” thing that we wouldn’t mind putting on our face. It’s a very unique colour and I feel that it’s a the Matte version of Icon (review here) which is great because I didn’t like Icon that much due to the excessive shimmers.

Yay! Another nice dark shade to choose from on days I decide to go vampy. It’s a very nice deep plum, doncha think?

Living Legend, Fashion Revival against the other shades of purple that I could find at home! All of them are from MAC.

And from the above comparison, you can clearly see the stark similarity between Living Legend and Sin. Fashion Revival, on the other hand, is like a twin of Rebel.

This collection carries quite a number of new shades that are very much alike to existing ones, with the exception of Pander Me, of course! Hence it wouldn’t be much of a big deal if these get pulled off the shelves because similar alternatives are readily available on the web and at your nearest brick and mortar MAC store. Fashion Revival is already sold out online the last time I checked. And most of the shades are already gone in MAC outlets 😦

OK, that’s all from me for this collection! Did you buy anything this time? What are your thoughts? 🙂

Thanks for reading ladies! ❤

The Matte Lip is still available on maccosmetics.com and also in Singapore MAC stores for a limited time.

REVIEW: MAC Artificially Wild Lipsticks – Icon, Yash & Photo

Hey everyone!!

Sorry for the lack of updates in the past three weeks! I was so swamped with school assignments that I didn’t have time for myself. But that’s alright because I’m back with a number of pending posts on hand. First, let me get this short draft published before the collection gets entirely sold out.

mac-artificially-wild

The “Artificially Wild” limited edition collection was launched last month and it features the return of some shades that were pulled from the shelves some time ago. The collection includes 4 eye shadows (Artificial Earth, Stony, Marsh and Natural Wilderness), 4 tinted lipglass (Obviously Bare, De-Nude, Spite and Explicit), 3 lip pencils (Stripdown, Cork and Oak), 3 cream colour bases (Shell, Breaking Ground and Au Nature), 3 powder blush (Next to Skin, Pink Cult and Taupe) and of course, 5 lipsticks (Siss, Yash, Shitake, Photo and Icon).

Singaporeans! Find out how to buy from maccosmetics.com here!

And as you can see, it’s a pretty huge collection inspired by military camouflage colours hence earthy colours like “greys, beige-browns and soft, dirty mauves” are incorporated. Before you dismiss them as boring neutrals, take a look at the official lipstick swatches below:

MAC has done it once again. This collection aims to bring “nude” to a whole new level. I call this nude with an edge.

As always, I only bought stuff from the lipsticks section, and only 3 shades out of 5 which are Yash, Icon and Photo. Photo was out of stock when I added it to cart and thus was sent to me in a separate box.

Are you ready for my swatches? Here you go!

Let me start off with Yash, a deep neutral with Matte finish.

SAMSUNG CSC

Oops, pardon my unkempt hair. How do I look? 😀

My first thought about Yash in a dim room was, “Crap, I think it washes me out!” but it doesn’t seem look that bad in pictures now. Having a matte finish would also mean that the lipstick is going to last a long time on the lips even though it may potentially make your lips look kinda dry. In comparison with other MAC nude shades, I personally feel that Yash is somewhat similar to other Cherish and Honeylove, just a tad darker. Take a look at the comparison below:

Next up would be Icon, a frosted neutral beige with Frost finish.

Frostbitten

Hmmm.. mixed feelings about this shade. I’m probably not used to wearing lipsticks that appear too shimmery so yup, I don’t quite fancy it. This is the only shade that’s sold out on maccosmetics.com so I’m still contemplating if I should sell it off. But the hoarder in me would most likely keep it in the end haha.

Last but not least, the popular Photo which made me wait for days for its arrival. It’s a golden brown with Satin finish.

I believe this is the old packaging. Nowadays MAC lipstick boxes don’t come with stick-on labels.

LOVE IT.

Obviously, my favourite one from this haul would be Photo because it’s darker in colour and.. call me biased but, it complements my skin tone so darn well, doncha think? Haha. That’s a rhetorical question by the way. But seriously, is there anyone out there who thinks the same? I know Singaporean girls don’t really wear dark lipstick (or probably not gutsy enough to do so) so I get stares all the time when I’m out alone like I’m some kind of weirdo. -_-

That’s all for this post! Did you buy anything from this collection? 🙂

Thanks for reading lovelies ❤ And stay tuned for more updates!

REVIEW: MAC A Novel Romance Lipsticks – Lingering Kiss, Hearts Aflame & Yield to Love

Hey everyone!

I’m back with a mini lipstick haul from maccosmetics.com and they are limited edition from the latest collection “A Novel Romance”. Prior to the online release, I saw some images associated to the collection. I don’t know if they’re meant to be satirical but they’re so cheesy, they cracked me up! 😛

mac-anovelromance-1

mac-anovelromance-2

mac-anovelromance-3

The hot Jesus lookalike model in the campaign pictures strangely looks more made-up than the female lol. I’m so loving the muscles smoky eye make-up the artist applied on the guy though 😀

Singaporeans! Find out how to buy from maccosmetics.com here!

Inspired by romance novel covers, this collection features deep and luscious shades like plum and burgundy (omg my most loved – shut up and take my money!). Products launched include eye shadows (A Novel Romance, An Amorous Adventure and A Passionate Quest), a mascara (Haut and Naughty Too Black Lash), tinted lipglass (in Bared For You, Wanting More, Pure Fiction, Reckless Desire and Talk Sexy), lipsticks (in Myself, Yield to Love, A Novel Romance, Good Kisser, Hearts Aflame and Lingering Kiss) and powder blush (in Fun Ending and Animal Instincts). I, of course, was more interested in the lipsticks! Honestly, all the lipstick shades are very pretty, but I couldn’t possibly buy all six of them – that would leave me broke for the rest of the month. So I chose my THREE I absolutely love!

All 6 lipstick colours. From left: Myself (soft shimmery nude beige), Yield to Love (midtone rose), A Novel Romance (light cool dusty pink), Good Kisser (midtone fuchsia), Hearts Aflame (midtone brick red), Lingering Kiss (deep plum red)

If you have read any of my FAVOURITES posts, you’d definitely be able to guess the colours I picked (without looking at the title of course). My top 3 choices were Hearts Aflame, Lingering Kiss and Yield to Love because as you can see from the official swatch, they are the darkest among all hehe. I was torn between Yield to Love and Good Kisser (what a gorgeous shade of pink) but I picked the former in the end due to it being “online exclusive”.

Compare!

Each lipstick retails for US$16 (S$20) on maccosmetics.com but the last time I checked, all of them were sold out! WOW. But I can totally understand why because the payoff is really awesome! And the colours are exactly the kind of dark I’m looking for.

Since most of them are not online exclusive, they should be available in Singapore outlets soon but it’s definitely going to be priced around S$30. I think there was a soft launch (or a sneak preview) of this collection in Raffles City outlet way before the official release because I saw someone selling Lingering Kiss on Carousell and the seller claimed that she bought the last piece. So MACaholics in Singapore, be sure to grab your desired products once this collection is launched in other MAC stores here! They will run out in no time.

My total damage for this haul is US$60 including shipping. I used comGateway for their forwarding service this time and I must say they’re a hundred times better than vPost in terms of efficiency, speed and cost. So goodbye vPost for now.

Did you buy anything from this collection? Feel free to share your reviews in the comments below!

Thanks for reading lovelies ❤
